The
Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia together with the organization -
World Vision Georgia, conducts an educational project for the homeless children.
The program aims at integrating the children and adolescents into the
educational system who are left out of the formal education and/or schools. It
is of paramount importance to provide them with the vital and basic academic
skills, thus preparing them for the age-appropirate general education.
Within the scope of the program, the “Chalk Drawing Festival” was conducted at
the yard of the Ministry of Education and Science, and involved children from
Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Rustavi day centers.
The
festival is based on a research conducted about the homeless children, who
expressed their own attitude towards learning, and educational/cognitive activities.
During
the event, the childrne were welcomed and given the symbolic gifts by the
Minister of Education and Science – Aleksandre Jejelava. The event was also
attended by the representatives of so called Day Center provider organizations
such as: “World Vision Georgia”,
“Caritas Georgia”, and “Child and Environment”. In the future, there are a number
of interesting events in the fields of education, art, and sports scheduled for
these children.
