The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia – Aleksandre Jejelava, awarded the successful students with various gifts and monetary prizes, for winning in various International School Olympiads. The Minister awarded five students in having won the International Subject Olympiad, whereas 13 of them were awarded for winning the National Information Technology (IT) tournament.
Within the scope of motivating the successful students, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, finances Georgian national teams to participate in world’s most prestigious Olympiads annually. This year 23 Georgian students participated in the International Olympiads such as IMO (Mathematics), IPHO (Physics), IOI (IT), IBO (Biology) and ICHO (Chemistry), where one of the students gained a silver, and four of them acquired a bronze medal. Additionally, six of the Georgian contestants, were awarded with a special certificate. Furthermore, the silver medal winner was awarded with 2,000 GEL, whereas the Ministry of Education and Science awarded the bronze medal winner with 1,000 GEL.
It is important to note, that during the last seven years, Georgian national teams have acquired three gold, 17 silver and 59 bronze medals, in conjunction with having earned 37 special certificates.
The IT national tournament this year was conducted based on two stages, split into three age categories. The students of VII-XII grade of public schools participated in the tournament. There were three students this year, who earned the 1stt place, three students who earned the 2nd place and three students who acquired the 3rd place in the tournament. Consequently, these students will receive 1000, 700, 500, and 50 GEL computer hardware and software gift cards, respectively.
