Today Georgian language pilot program, joint effort of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgian and the Embassy of Georgia in Greece, was launched at Athens Public School N 50 for Georgian schoolchildren and first lessons were given.
As agreed lessons will be given in the second half of the day twice a week from now on. 2 groups were formed from Georgian schoolchildren of Athens Public School N 50 (from first through sixth grades, total 14 Georgian schoolchildren). Athens Sunday School teachers Khatuna Lobzhanidze and Madona Javakhishvili shall be in charge of the academic process.
If the pilot program is successful the issue of teaching Georgian to upper-class Georgian students shall be considered based on the agreement with the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs of Greece. The issue of launching Georgian language pilot program is on the agenda in Thessaloniki public schools as well.
