Within the framework of informal education, new, large-scale project of free lessons is being successfully implemented in order to increase the education quality, to raise the motivation of pupils for study, to expand informal education opportunities and to make the school life more interesting and funny.
Free lessons implies the cycle of extracurricular / informal activities tailored to the interests of the pupils, the content and the teaching methodology of which varies from the typical teaching process, free lesson does not stipulate homework, assessment of pupils and gives an opportunity to the pupils and the teachers to realize creative activities and ideas. Following directions were defined for the activities within the framework of the program: sports activities; development of literacy; culture / art; intellectual and cognitive activities.
Free lessons in the 7th and 8th classes will be financed within the framework of the grant issued by the Ministry to the school. Maximum amount of grant issued to one school must not exceed 3.000 GEL, which will be distributed to teachers’ remuneration, compensation of the directorate / administration and the resources required for implementation of projects.
The application for funding of the free lessons will be accepted at the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia until March 31. More than 2400 applications were received from 1007 public schools. At the same time, the applications were discussed and funded. The funded projects will be announced by May 15.
