Under the initiative and by organization of the coalition “Education for All” and the National Center for Teacher Professional Development of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, the National Teacher Prize campaign and its selection contest is underway with s slogan - “Future is in Education”. This initiative is carried out for the first time in Georgia and represents a part of the global campaign “The Global Teacher Prize“, aiming at promotion of the teacher’s profession.
5 finalists of the contest will be revealed in September, and on October 5, on the World Teachers’ Day, one of them will be awarded with the National Teacher Award and a prize - 10 000 GEL.

Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Lia Gigauri: – “Now we already have an opportunity to join The Global Teacher Prize, where the teachers from many countries are involved. As you know, it is quite a solid prize, but besides this prize the most important thing is that, it represents the project that promotes popularization of the teacher’s profession, increases the prestige of the profession and gives each teacher a motivation to become better and to participate in the contest. The initial stage of the global contest is the National Award”.
The active teachers teaching in general public or private authorized educational institution are eligible to take part in the National Competition. Registration of contestants will continue on the web-site www.tprize.ge from May 31 to July14. After that, the jury composed of 17 members, based on the community basics, will conduct the three-step selection process of the contestants, taking an international practice into account. The jury is composed of education specialists, representatives of the academic/educational institutes, public figures and successful people in their profession.
