The Minister of Education and Science, Dimitri Shashkini awarded the winners of the school competition April 14 – the Day of Georgian Language with the prizes and the diplomas. Six winners and one author of the original working were identified among the different age-groups (VII-IX and X-XII). The Minister presented with the computers the two participants, who took the first place. The other winners were rewarded with the books.
By the initiative of the Minister, this type of competition in the general education was carried out for the first time throughout the whole Georgia. The participants selected the form, style and the genre on their own. The schoolchildren presented thematically variable workings - the literature, sketches, tales, publicist letters and the poetry. The language issue was raised in the following ways: the language problem among the future generation of Georgian emigration, the theme of Fereydan Georgians, Georgian alphabet. . . The children presented the concrete examples of torturing the Georgian language. They expressed the wish to defend the national language.
The non- Georgian schoolchildren also took participation in the competition.
The events, dedicated to the Day of Georgian Language were held at different educational and scientific-research institutions.
