Batumi State Maritime Academy is one of the leading universities in Georgia that is equipped with the material-technical base appropriate to the requirements of the International Maritime Organization and diploma of which is internationally recognized.

At present, there are about 15,000 sailors in Georgia. Monthly salary of the Georgian low-ranking sailor (officer) and captain is $ 3,000 and $ 14,000 respectively. Georgian sailors bring about 150-180 million GEL in the Georgian budget annually.

The maritime academy plans to develop additional training programs in the future, attract foreign students, increase the prospect of employment of Georgian citizens and carry out other important changes.
