Before beginning of the new academic year, the last working meeting of the permanent Board of Directors of public and private schools was held. The Board operates since 2017 and has been convened for six times in the last period. Several important issues and initiatives were raised at the meetings. Among them a number of problematic issues related to infrastructure of schools, gas and water supply, transportation of pupils, teachers’ remuneration, school funding, etc. were discussed. It should be noted, that 40% of the problems raised by the Ministry have been resolved, discussion of the initiatives and working for the purpose of solution of the problems continues in permanent regime.
The Board of Directors of public and private schools was created by the initiative of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Aleksandre Jejelava. The Board members are elected by the school directors once in every three months. The Board consists of representatives of all types of schools (private schools of regions, capital, large cities, highland areas, villages located nearby the dividing line of the occupied territories, specialized, small-contingent, vocational institutions of national minorities).
The Board meetings are attended by the Minister and the top management of the Ministry, in order to make cooperation and exchange of information among the schools and the Ministry more active. Each director represents his/her own as well as other schools’ problems and initiatives within the Board’s authority.
The Board of School Directors will continue its working with new staff from the new academic year.
