The
next meeting of the Rector's Council was held in Batumi Shota Rustaveli State
University. The meeting was opened by the Vice Prime Minister of Georgia,
Minister of Education and Science Aleksandre Jejelava and he talked about
several important issues, including new planned projects in the system.
One
of the issues discussed at the session was the issue of initiating the process
of creating relevant regulations in the Vocational PhD and Georgian
legislation. Vocational PhD has long been established in European and British
Universities and it is the first phase of the PhD Program where a candidate is
awarded a Vocational PhD Degree and continues to study for Academic PhD Degree only
if he/she wishes to do so. In this case the research is connected to practice
(according to the field) and scientific work does not remain "a thesis for
thesis", as well as the specific area or direction that takes benefit in
form of the innovative ideas and the research oriented at specific practical
outcome that will be realized in the future.
The
university programs of the teacher and the special teacher, the role of
universities in strengthening of schools; generation of University Association
and other were also discussed at the session;
