The Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili, together with Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Education and Science Minister Aleksandre Jejelava met the winners of International Olympiad their parents, coaches, teachers and congratulated them the achieved results.
The Ministry presented teams of pupils at World Olympiad this year in five disciplines- mathematics, informatics, physics, chemistry and biology from which the pupils of Komarov and Demirel Private College returned with gold, silver and nine bronze medals, in total with 14 medals.
At the 58th International Mathematical Olympiad Training (IMO 2017) in Rio de Janeiro in which 615 pupils from world’s 111 countries participated, a team of six people won one gold, two silver and three bronze medals, that is an unprecedented result in the history of education of country.
The Georgian team returned with two silver medals from the 29th International Educational Olympiad in Tehran (IOI 2017), which was one of the most difficult and high-level competitions in the history of informatics Olympiads. Consequently, such a result is a great success for the country.
At the 48th International Olympiad (IMO 2017) in Indonesia, where teams from 88 countries participated, the Georgian national team managed to obtain three bronze medals and one honorable diploma, which is a high result.
At the 49th International Olympiad in Thailand, where 297 pupils from 75 countries participated, Georgian team returned with three bronze medals.
The preparation of Georgian team of pupils for International Subject Olympiads and participation in the following Olympiads was fully funded and organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia within the framework of project "International Training Olympiads Subprogram" encouraging talented pupils. The Ministry will continue to assist the talented students in the future.
