At the working meeting with the State Secretary for Swiss Education, Research and Innovations - Mauro Dell’Ambrogio, the discussions were focused on the perspectives of intensive scientific cooperation associated with agriculture. The Swiss State Secretary expressed his enthusiasm for accession of Georgia to EU Research and Innovation Program “Horizon 2020” and noted that relations between Switzerland and Georgia in the field of science are quite close, however require certain renovation. The program of SCOPES, based on the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), financed more than 35 projects in 2009-2016 and since 2013 nine Georgian scientists have been awarded with the excellence scholarships from the Swiss Government.
It should be mentioned, that this year is the 25th anniversary of bilateral relations between Georgia and Switzerland, which will be celebrated in December during the presidential visit of the President of Switzerland - Doris Leuthard in Georgia.
