The VIII International Scientific Conference on topic “Language Situation in the Caucasus” is held on September 27-29, at St. Andrew the First Called Georgian University of the Patriarchate of Georgia, organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia within the framework of “Festival of Science and Innovation 2017”. The program of the conference is diverse. Georgian and foreign scholars from Washington, Poznan, Makhachkala, Duzce, and other scientific centers are participating in it. The visit of the delegation of the University of Duzce from Turkey under the direction of the Rector of the University should be noted especially. Professor Nigar Demircan Chakari, the Rector of the University of Duzce, is Georgian by origin and today he welcomed the participants of the conference in Georgian.
It is noteworthy that Georgian language and literature is taught at many universities in Turkey. Four years ago, at the University of Ducze, the Bachelor's Program in Georgian Language and Literature was opened. The Master’s Program has also started functioning now. In the Ducze region, where many descendants of Muhajir Georgians, the teaching of Georgian Language and Literature at university level is welcomed and appreciated. It is noteworthy that with the support of Ms. Nigar Demirjan Chakari this year, a scientific conference dedicated to Shota Rustaveli 850 anniversary was successfully held at Duzce University.
