Owing to the initiative of the Youth Policy Management Department of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, a two-day workshop was held with the involvement of the representatives of local municipalities responsible for Youth Affairs. The meeting aims to enhance, deepen and improve the regional cooperation. Mikheil Chkhenkeli - the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia addressed the forum participants and introduced the ongoing projects that the Ministry of Education and Science plans to implement, within the scope of the Youth Affairs Policy. Towards the end of the meeting, the Minister answered all questions posed by the forum participants.
During a two-day forum, the Youth Policy Management Department presented priority programs within the youth affairs activities framework and their corresponding programs. Additionally, relevant services and programs were presented by the LEPL - Children and Youth Development Fund and LEPL -Children and Youth National Center for the year of 2018. Moreover, the forum discussed the existing agenda at the local municipalities, whilst having an active discussion regarding the mechanism for further developing the cooperation between the local and central authorities.
The legislative and executive authorities attended the two-day meeting. Amongst the participated parties were the Chairman and fellow members of Education, Science and Sports committee of the Parliament of Georgia, as well as the representatives of regional policy and governance committee. Additionally, the representatives of the international donor organizations such as the EU, UNDP, UNICEF, World Vision, and USAID were actively involved in the process.
With the cooperation of the central and local authorities, the state youth policy will help to implement the goals and objectives, in order create an environment necessary for the development of the youth, where they will fully realize their potential and be actively involved in all aspects of Georgian social life.
