Within the scope of Batumi International Conference - Georgia's European Way, the Acting Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Mikheil Chkhenkeli held a meeting with Director for International Cooperation, Directorate–General for Research and Innovation of European Commission– Cristina Russo.
The meeting focused on the Horizon 2020 supporting policy mechanisms, in conjunction with summarizing the work carried out by the experts to modernize Georgia’s research and innovation systems and to share recommendations in the corresponding fields.
The above-mentioned mechanism provides the policy support of the European Commission on the following areas:
• Assistance in identifying prospective research fields;
• Strengthening research between research and industry / business;
• Offering the funding scheme for result-oriented research units.
The sides also discussed the possibilities and mechanisms of further engaging Georgian scientists in the Horizon 2020 program.
