The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia announces a competition for the position of Georgian Young Representative in the United Nations.
The program of youth representatives is considered one of the successful initiatives of the United Nations. The UN General Assembly, for the first time in 1981, called on member states to bring young delegates to the country's official delegations. This appeal is recorded in several UN resolutions.
The foundation of the program in Georgia was laid out in 2012 and was fully funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
After passing the relevant competition, the selected representative will consult with young people and hold meetings throughout the country. Later, the selected youth delegate travels to the United Nations headquarters in New York, USA, where as a full member of the Georgian delegation, takes part in the Third Committee and General Committees of the General Assembly and addresses the same committee meeting whilst participating in the elaboration of a youth decision. The Youth representative can also optionally participate in the Social Council Committee sessions in February.
In addition to carrying out the representative function of the country, the youth representative together with the delegates of other countries implements the activities and initiatives related to the problems of young people.
Any citizen of Georgia between the age of 18 to 25 can take part in the competition. Potentila candidates must present the following documents: Curriculum Vitae, an Action Plan English (for the budget of 17 000 GEL) and an essay written in English (subject to maximum 500 words, font-size-11; Sylfaen)
The contest will be conducted in three stages:
1. Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of their submitted documents.
2. Selected candidates will be interviewed in front of a specially selected Commission. Interviews will be conducted in English.
3. The best candidates selected on the basis of the interview will be asked to deliver a speech (in English) at the public event, held by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.
The victorious candidate will be revealed in July of 2018
