Final stage of the competition – Georgian Youth Representative
at the United Nations, was held at the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture
and Sport of Georgia, where the candidates who passed the third stage,
presented their memorandum regarding “SDG’s, youth and Georgian reality”.
As a result of the competition, the selected representative will
hold meetings across Georgia, meet with the Georgian youth, travel to the
United Nations Headquarters, located in New York, United States of America,
where, as a full member of the Georgian delegation, will take part in the
events of the Third Committee of the General Assembly, participate in the
committee hearings, deliver a speech at the same committee meeting and take
serious steps into the elaboration of a youth resolution.
Any citizen of Georgia has the opportunity to participate in the
competition (between the age of 18-25).
Youth Representative Program is one of the UN's successful
initiatives. The UN General Assembly, for the first time in 1981, called on
member states to bring young delegates to the country's official delegations.
The foundation of the program in Georgia was launched back in
2012 and is fully funded by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and
Sport of Georgia, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of
Georgia.
