The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport - Mikheil Batiashvili together with the deputy Minister - Irina Abuladze discussed the main directions of the planned reforms in the field of education with the World Bank regional director - Mercy Tembon.
The Minister emphasized the importance the World Bank's contribution to the development of the country and expressed hope for the World Bank's support at the planning and implementation of the Education System Reform in Georgia.
The sides discussed the importance of the development of human capital within the scope of the economic development of the country and in the process of reforming the education system.
Furthermore, Ms. Mercy Tembon has indeed confirmed that over the course of next few years, the World Bank's priority will be to assist the Government of Georgia in reforming the education sector. Moreover, she noted that the World Bank will be one of the key partners of the Government of Georgia in the process of implementing major changes in the education structure.
The sides agreed to form a joint active working groups to facilitate the process.
The meeting was also attended by several representatives of World Bank; such as; the program coordinator in the South Caucasus – Ozan Sevimli, the head of External Relations – Inga Paichadze, and the representative of the education sector – Nino Kutateladze.
