Frankfurt Book Fair (Frankfurter Buchmesse) opens on October 9, 2018, where Georgia will be presented as a Guest of Honour. Within the frames of the Fair, a pavilion will be arranged paired with a variety of content and thematic stands, where more than 70 literary events of Georgian writers and up to 200 German-translated Georgian literature will be presented. During the year, more than 100 cultural and 500 literary activities were planned. Additionally, the autumn program is filled with various literary, musical, and theatrical events. Georgia will also be presented on a number of important music and literary festivals held in Germany.
The Frankfurt Book Fair is the most prestigious and an immense international event not only for literature and publishing, but also in the cultural aspect. Every year the market hosts about 300,000 visitors and exposes about 400,000 books. It has a 500-year history and is held in Frankfurt in the mid-October of every year. The first three days of the event is strictly reserved for only the business visitors, whereas the last two days the market opens up to the general public.
