On August 22, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport held a press conference regarding the Batumi-Tbilisi International Festival - "Night Serenades".
The press conference was led by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia - Mikheil Batiashvili, the Artistic Director of the festival itself - Giorgi Isakadze, the General Director - Nina Tsagareli, conductor - Vakhtang Machavariani, violinist - Gia Iashvili and Valeri Pantsulaia – a representative of Ltd. Telasi – the general sponsor.
With the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, the International Festival will be held for the 10th time this year, starting from August 26 up to September 4.
This year’s festival features world renowned artists such as: pianist Alexander Korsantia (Georgia/USA), conductor - Vakhtang Machavariani (Georgia / Germany), violinist - Gia Iashvili (Georgia / Austria), violinist - Geza Hoszu Legotski (Switzerland/USA), guitarist – Sofia Borossi (Austria/Hungary), famous Bandoneon player – Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi, composer – Ioseb Bardanashvili (Israel/Georgia) and many more.
The Chamber orchestra – Georgian Virtuosos, is the base orchestra for this year.
Concerts will be held on the 26th, 28th and 29th of August at the Sheraton Batumi concert hall and at Tbilisi Conservatoire on the 2nd and 4th of September.
The International Festival “Night Serenades” was founded in 1982 in Abkhazia, one of the most beautiful regions in Georgia, with the initiative of a famous Georgian violinist and conductor Liana Isakadze. Unfortunately, the festival was stopped in 1991 and only after 18 years, in 2009, its renewal became possible in another beautiful city on the Black Sea Coast - Batumi. Since then, the artistic director is Liana Isakadze.
Over the years, growing interest toward the festival has led to the expansion of its geographical borders. For this reason, by the decision of the Tbilisi Assembly, the festival was given the name “Batumi
Since 2011, the base orchestra of the festival is the World Chamber Ensemble - Orchestra “Virtuosi” founded by Liana Isakadze. This orchestra has already gained international recognition – successful concert in London in 2014 and the fundraising event in NY are proof to this.
