Head of General and Vocational Education Development Department of MES, Lali Ebanoidze presented the winners of the art competition Sadako – Ambassador of Peace with computers. The winners are: student of Tbilisi Public School №139, Nika Maghelani, student of Tbilisi Virsaladze Art School, Nodar Pirveli and student of Kutaisi Maisuradze Art School, Tamar Ioseliani. Competition was organized by peace organization - Sadako with the support of MES. More than 300 school children participated in it.

According to the announcement of Lali Ebanoidze, support of intellectual and creative competitions among the school children is very important. MES systematically encourages these competitions and will still support them”.

The task was to share tragic history of Japanese girl – Sadako Sasaki creatively and represent the painting, reflecting own ideas, emotions, feelings, and opinions about Sadako’s tragic history. Jury selected 100 best workings. The first, second and third quality prizes received workings of three age-group participants. Winners of different nominations were also awarded with prizes.

History of Sadako Sasaki is known for all Japanese people. The girl witnessed dropping the atomic bomb on August 6, 1945 in Hiroshima. She was ill with leukemia and died in 1954. Her friends, who were astonished with Sadako’s strength and bravery, published her letters. Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes became a legend. A Bronze statue of Sadako, holding a golden crane is placed in Hiroshima Peace Park.
