The Minister of Education and Science, Dimitri Shashkini opened a new swimming pool in Tbilisi Public School №186. Company “Royal 2009” implemented rehabilitative workings. This is the only swimming pool in Didi Digomi settlement.

School children of three public schools will use this swimming pool with several privileges. Most important is that around 80 first graders and the school children of vulnerable families as well as large families will be given free swimming and water polo lessons. 5^th grader George Damenia, who is Zaza Damenia’s son, participant of Abkhazian and Russian-Georgian wars, will use the swimming pool free of charge as well. George Damenia attended swimming pool opening ceremony together with his grandfather and mother.

The school expressed great interest in the President’s initiative about replacing physical fitness lessons with sports classes. The school children of Public School #186 are interested in rugby, football and volleyball. They will be given sports lessons as well as swimming and water polo lessons from the next academic year. In order to introduce sports lessons, equipping the school with appropriate infrastructure is underway. In the framework of the project “Iakob Gogebashvili” the school is renovating its gym. Tbilisi City Hall is building rugby stadium in the near area of the school as well.

850 school children study and 98 teachers work in Tbilisi Public School №186. Graduates of this school successfully pass unified entry exams, participate in the school Olympiads and different competitions. Current year, 2 candidates of golden medals and 3 candidates of silver medals study in this school.
