The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli opened the closing event of the International Education Center 2019. The event was also attended by Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure - Maia Tskitishvili and the Minister of Defense of Georgia - Irakli Gharibashvili.
At the International Education Center's 2019 Summary event, the Center's Director, Nino Chelidze, presented the community with a summary report on current and new scholarship schemes, university support programs, and discussed new perspectives for the Center's activities.
The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Mikheil Chkhenkeli positively assessed the activities of the Center. The minister said it is important that young people have access to education at the world's leading universities and research centers. Mikheil Chkhenkeli expressed his special gratitude for the engagement to the international partners who have contributed greatly to the success of the center and the country's human resource development.
“When the the idea of establishing the International Center for Education was born, I was actively involved in the process, and I am glad that this center is now this popular. Special thanks goes to Irakli Gharibashvili, who created this center, as well as Maya Tskitishvili, who takes great care of this center. My gratitude extends to Mrs. Nino Chelidze and every employee of the center. This is a tremendous amount of hard work and responsibility. The International Center for Education is a truly intellectual gold foundation of Georgia.
The involvement of the beneficiaries of the center in the educational system is and will be extremely important in the coming future. Each scholarship provided you with the opportunity to study at leading universities around the world and, at the same time, to enjoy the academic life experience of these universities, which is no less important. The International Center for Education has identified 170 winners in 2019 and has awarded over 850 scholarships in a total of 6 years. This year the state funded the study abroad with 7 332 391 GEL.
