On December 8-10, Tbilisi hosted the 8^th session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly.

Within the Parliamentary Assembly, First Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia - Irine Abuladze participated in the meeting of the Committee on Social Affairs, Education, Culture and Civil Society. The Deputy Minister shared the results of the Eastern Partnership Countries Education Ministerial held in Brussels on November 22 with European Parliament members, Eastern Partnership countries and members of the Georgian Parliament.

Irine Abuladze discussed Georgia's integration into the European education space and touched upon the projects that are already implemented in this this regard:

The importance of opening a European school with the support of the European Union to the students of the Eastern Partnership countries in Georgia, including Georgia, for the first time outside the EU. Establishing an European school in Georgia is one of the 20 key goals set by the European Union for 2020 and will have no analogues in the region;

Georgia's accession to the European Quality Assurance Network (ENQA) and successful participation in the Erasmus + program within the field of higher education. Also cooperation with the European, in light of becoming the proud member of the European Commission's pan-European initiative - EURAXESS;

The importance of large-scale budgetary assistance signed between Georgia and the European Union in November 2018 in the field of vocational education, which focuses on the development of human capital in the country;

New initiatives under the General Education Reform, which include monetary rewards for teachers of retirement age, the process of teacher certification and modernization of teaching principles.

European Commission officials welcomed the ongoing reforms in Georgia's education system and said that the European Union's new priorities would focus on education and youth issues. This will allow more Georgian students to benefit from a variety of mobility programs and other important benefits.

Euronest is a forum established in 2011 by the European Commission as a component of the Eastern Partnership. Members of the European Parliament and members of the Parliament of Ukraine, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia participate in the forum and promote closer political and economic ties with the EU.
