
In
2010, 5 million GEL will be allocated from the state budget to finance 103
scientific projects within the framework of the State
Science Grant competition and 31
projects within the framework of the Presidential Grants competition for Young Scholars.
On
22 January, this decision was approved by the Scientific Board, based on the
assessment of the international and local experts. The Georgia National Science
Foundation (GNSF) administers the State Science Grant Competitions.
The
scientific board meeting was presided over by the Minister of Education and
Science Dimitri Shashkini. As he said, the Georgian Government does its best to
further develop science. “Introduction of the state grant system enabled us to
raise the salary of the scientists twenty as much. Currently, more than 2000
scientists and 1000 technical staff are engaged in more than 350 scientific
projects. Up to 20 million GEL is allocated from the state budget annually to
finance the scientific projects,” the Minister said.
