The final results of the 2012 National
Exams have been announced. In the 2012-2013 school year 24,501 entrants became
students. The above mentioned is a 5% percent increase compared to last year.
The 2012-2013 academic year will begin
on September 17th in all public schools throughout Georgia. Schools
are already preparing for the starting of classes, planning to pick up where
they left off.
The memorandum signed between The Ministry
of Education and Science of Georgia and Armenia announced vacancies for masters
and PHD programs in higher education institutions of Armenia
The Summer Job Program for students,
initiated by the Georgian President, is now over. Today President Saakashvili
addressed the participants of the program in Anaklia, making remarks on their
prospective futures and drawing attention to additional educational programs.
Regarding
the “School Safety Program,” the Ministry of Education and Science announced vacancies
for resource officer positions in the following regions: Marneuli, Bolnisi, Gardabani, Dmanisi, Tsalka
and Tetritskaro.
Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Khatia Dekanoidze has
started holding introductory meetings with teachers of Tbilisi and
regions. During the meetings, Minister discusses the current reforms in
the education system.
Teachers
took a test in professional skills as a part of the certification exams. The
certification exams started on July 2th. Out of 40 000 registered teachers, 32
000 took a test in professional skills.
The President of Georgia, Mikheil
Saakashvili, introduced a new Minister – Ms. Khatia Dekanoidze to the

Memorandum of understanding was signed

Today Teachers Certification Exams have
started with the exam in Professional Skills. Head of National Examination
Center Khatia Dekanoidze and Director of National Center for Teacher

center and observed the examination process.

Minister of Education and Science,
Dimitri Shashkini visited the school children of Buckswood summer school. 150
school children are improving their English language knowledge, participating

session of exam at examination center.
This time, the successful school

Deputy Minister, Koka Seperteladze and Director of National Examinations Center,

Education and Science of Georgia, Nodar Surguladze has been observing the
process of Unified Entry Examinations in the Georgian Language and Literature
at Ozurgeti Examinations Center. Ozurgeti №2 Public School has been converted

Georgian
teams are getting ready for international Olympiads 2012. 19 school students will be participating in
Physics, Math, Informatics and Biology Olympiads.
In the scope of the grant contest, initiated by Shota Rustaveli National
Science Foundation web-site www.qim.ge has been created. The web-site
contains the information on Georgian public and political figures of
IV-XVIII centuries.
Throughout Georgia, Unified Entry Exams will start on June 28 and
Teachers Certification Exams will begin on July 2. Students who want to

This time, the successful school students of
Mtskheta-Mtianeti region received gifts from the President. First Deputy
Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Koka Sepherteladze, presented 17
tenth graders of Mtskheta-Mtianeti public schools with personal computers.
This time, the successful school students of Ozurgeti municipality
received gifts from the President. Deputy Minister of Education and
Science of Georgia, Nodar Surguladze, presented 23 tenth graders of
Ozurgeti public schools with personal computers. The representatives of
the local municipality also took part in awarding ceremony.
100 “Future Classrooms” will be opened throughout
Georgia. At the moment, Education and Scientific Infrastructure Development
Agency is rehabilitating and technically equipping 20 “Future Classrooms” in
Shida Kartli region.
Rolf-Dieter Heuer General Director of European organization of Nuclear
Research (CERN) visited International Scientific Summer School in
Bakuriani. He answered the questions of the questions of the school
students and delivered the lecture.
The Office of Resource Officers of Educational Institutions joined a
celebration of International Day against drug abuse. On the initiative
of the SROs, a marathon was organized to mark this event.
The successful school students of Adjara received gifts from the
President. Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Nodar
Surguladze, presented 151 tenth graders of Adjara public schools with
personal computers.
The
Minister, Dimitri Shashkini visited a computer factory “Algorithm” together
with prospective first graders and observed a process of assembling the
netbooks. From
a new academic year, 60 000 first graders will receive a gift from the
President.
School
Resource officers joined rafting championship which was held in Borjomi. Up to
100 persons took part in the competition. The resource officers and adults used
the same raft to navigate in a river.
During Unified Entry Exams, 2
examination centers will be operating in Kutaisi. Overall 17 examination
centers will be open throughout Georgia. Kutaisi examination centers will
be located in buildings of Kutaisi State University and Andria Razmadze Kutaisi
Public School #41.
Construction of a new, modern school started
in the village of Mirashkhani, Aspindza Municipality. First Deputy Minister,
Koka Seperteladze closely observed the site of construction and met the village
population.

School Cleaning campaign
was launched on the initiative of SROs. The school resource officers, the

public school #161 cleaned the schoolyard and school building on Saturday.

Prior to the beginning of teacher certification exams, the Minister,
Dimitri Shashkini and Director of Teacher Professional Development
Center, Gia Mamulashvili, held a live web meeting with the teachers of
Kutaisi.
Public
Service Halls and respective agencies of the Civil Registry started to issue general
education authentication documents. The school graduates shall submit the ID
card to receive the document.
Distribution of examination cards for Unified Entry,
Graduate Records and Teachers’ Certification exams has started. 12th graders will be able to receive the cards at
their schools while high school graduates of previous year along with teachers
will get the examination cards at regional Education Resource Offices.
Deputy Minister of Education and Science of
Georgia, Irine Kurdadze, Deputy Governor of Imereti Region, Giga Shushania,
Mayor of Kutaisi, Giorgi Tevdoradze, presented 200 schoolchildren of Imereti public
schools with personal computers.

Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia organized the contest
“Introduce your country to tourists” for the school students of basic
and secondary education levels.
The Prime Minister of
Georgia visited the vocational college “Spektri” and met the prospective
students who had registered for the institution as a part of a second phase of
voucher funding system initiated by the President. Mr. Nika Gilauri together
with these persons saw different shops located in the college.
From Tbilisi International
Airport Terminal, the sealed tests of Unified Entry and Graduate Record
Examinations have been distributed to Tbilisi and regional police offices.
A new examination model is
being worked out in the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. Today
working group members of the Strategic board have discussed a new model of the
unified national examination 8+1 initiated by the president of Georgia.
Ministry of Education and Science
of Georgia has activated the second phase of distributing vocational education
1000 GEL worth vouchers. At this time, 1500 volunteers will be given a chance
to study at vocational education institutions.
Qualified
workforce will be trained for sewing sector in the vocational college “Iberia”
located in Kutaisi. The initiative will be implemented with support of the
Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and Economic Prosperity Initiative (EPI), USAID.
The
Minister, Dimitri Shashkini, introduced a new system of exams to the
journalists gathered in the Prime Times office. A new model of exams - 8+1 was
initiated by the President of Georgia.
From June13, 2012, National Examination Center will hold open doors days
for all entrants, candidates of Master Degree and teachers taking
certification exams. They will be able to meet personally with the
representatives of the center, heads of subject groups and experts and
get the necessary information regarding the exams.
Minister
of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini visited the construction
site of new school in the village Khajalia in Lanchkhuti municipality. From the
new academic year, 250 school students will be able to study at the new school.
The president of Georgia met with the student at Ozurgeti Public Service Hall and held the presentation of student’s discount card “Make your life easier”.

Sepherteladze visited Tbilisi Public School №9 and observed the process
of National Assessment of 4th graders in Georgian language and Math.
Famous Russian blogger Rustom Adamagon as a nickname “Drugoy” is paying a
visit to Georgia. Today, Adamagov visited Blogger’s House and met with
Georgian bloggers.
On the initiative of the resource officers, a week of poetry started for
the school students. The first day of the week was held jointly by the
students of various schools and young poets.
Early Childhood Education and Development Week was opened in Mtatsminda
park. The event is being held with support of the Ministry of Education
and Science of Georgia and UNICEF.

Sepherteladze and General Director of Shota Rustaveli National Science
Foundation Sulkhan Sisauri held the briefing for the press and announced
the contest for the Presidential grant for young scientists.
Civil club “21th century” was established in Dimitri Uznadze Tbilisi
public school №22. The club hosted a presentation of media center “
Liberta” . The event was attended by club members, teachers, and invited
guests. The civil club is supplied with the proper facilities.
A three year Education Management
Project (EMP) project that aimed at increasing effectiveness of managing the
education system has been accomplished successfully. The project was
implemented by Chemonics
International, Inc and supported by USAID and Ministry of Education and
Science.
Prime Minister of Georgia Nika Gilauri and Minister of Education and
Science of Georgia presented foreign volunteer teachers of the program
“Teach and Learn with Georgia” with certificates upon the successful
completion of 2011-2012 academic year.
The President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili met the successful schoolchildren
and teachers in the Teacher’s House. The meeting was attended by those
schoolchildren who have completed the basic education with honors and those
teachers who have passed the integrated exam in English and Computer and fell
under top 25% of the best teachers.
General education authentication documents will be issued by Public
Service Halls and respective agencies of the Civil Registry. This
announcement was made by Koka Sepherteladze, First Deputy Minister, and
Giorgi Gabrielashvili, chairperson of the Civil Registry under the
Ministry of Justice.
Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini met those
student-participants of the program “Summer Jobs” who joined the
program from June 4 after passing the additional registration. Minister
and Press-Speaker of the program Mariam Sajaia informed the students
about future procedures.
2012 national exams will be conducted in the examinations centers
located in Batumi, Poti, Zugdidi, Ozurgeti, Kutaisi, Akhaltsikhe, Gori,
Tbilisi, Rustavi, Telavi, Signagi and Khulo.
New school will be built in the village Sadguri Sviri of Zestaphoni
municipality. Today, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia
Dimitri Shashkini visited the place where the school will be
constructed.
The Minister, Dimitri Shashkini met the school principals and teachers
in Zestaponi. Mr. Dimitri Shashkini informed them on the new
developments in education system. Unified national, teacher
certification exams and renovation of school infrastructure were
especially focused.
Minister of Education and Science of
Georgia Dimitri Shashkini held the presentation newly published Georgian
language textbooks for ethnic minority school students at Tbilisi #73 Azeri
Language School and presented textbooks to the school library.
Irresponsible persons continue to disseminate false information on the issuance of false high school diplomas by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. While misleading the society, the authors of such announcements are trying the score cheap political points.
The open lecture in Georgian language
and literature was delivered at Rustavi public school #2 by Eter Kharbedia, a
certified teacher, who is also a recipient of the Presidential Scholarship.
Minister
of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini held the working meeting
with the experts of subject groups of National Examination Center. The aim of
the meeting was to discuss the current issues concerning the Unified National
Exams.
Tourism National Agency and
School Resource Officers of Educational Institutions presented primary school
students of various schools with animated maps. Animated maps have been created
by children authors with broad depiction of tourist potential of Georgia.
One hundred children with special
educational needs have been fully integrated in the physical development and
sports lessons in the five public schools in Tbilisi.
The graduate students of the vocational training
center “Spectri” have been recruited in construction of the Tbilisi Public
Service Hall. On the initial stage, up to 30 welders will be employed. The project is implemented in cooperation of
the Ministry of Justice and will be continued in the future as well.
The
President initiated project that envisages popularization of sports among the
youth, continues successfully. A basketball competition was held among 30
Tbilisi public schools as a part of the mentioned initiative. The teams of
Tbilisi public school #52 and First Experimental School competed against each
other in the final round.
On
June 4, registration for the summer employment program “Summer Jobs” started
again on www.summerjob.ge. The registration
process began from 9.am and finished within a twenty minute interval. Judging
from this fact, one can state the project has stirred a great interest among
the students.
With the start of the unified
national examinations, an examination organizational group meeting was held at
the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. Similar to high school
leaving exams the group members guarantee successful implementation and high
standards of unified national examinations.
On
June 1-6, students’ self-governance of Tbilisi State University organizes the
International Students’ Forum for students and organizations from more than 35
countries including Germany, France, Hungary, USA, Turkey, and Japan.
The
Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and Agency for Educational and
Scientific Infrastructure Development under Ministry has constructed a new
school in the village of Kvabgha, Chokhatauri. First Deputy Minister, Koka
Sepherteladze visited the newly built school.
According to
the decision of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, number of the
schoolchildren who will get the textbooks from the state free of charge was
increased.
Buckswood International School organized a traditional event celebrating
the completion of the academic year 2011-2012. This year, Buckswood
International School is number 4 on the top list with the highest
results in High School Leaving Exams.
Minister of Education and Science of
Georgia Dimitri Shashkini visited Tbilisi №202 School for Blind and Visually
Impaired Children and congratulated the school students on the International
Day of Children. Minister brought some presents for them.
Resource Officers and school students
of Samtredia Boarding School №15 for the second time jointly celebrated the
International Day of Children. Guests visited Sataflia reserve and
observed dinosaur foot-prints and the cave.
The
