The Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia has developed a new draft document outlining the national goals of general education. This document envisions the creation of a school environment where individuals are nurtured with a national-patriotic spirit, emphasis on personal development, respect for the institution of family, adherence to internationally recognized universal ethical principles, and democratic values. 

The foundation of this document lies in instilling the following values among students: 

- Preservation of national identity

- Understanding of one's rights and responsibilities towards family, society, and the state

- Proficiency in the state language, and knowledge of Georgia's history and culture

- Fostering a sense of patriotism and state-centric thinking

- Respect for ethnic and cultural diversity

- Cultivation of strong civic awareness, tolerance, and justice

- Equipping students with the skills to live independently and make informed decisions in the modern world 

The National General Education Goals serve as a crucial document that requires consensus and endorsement from the broader community to ensure alignment with these fundamental principles. To achieve this, the Ministry will initiate a public discussion of the document, incorporating relevant feedback to present a final version for parliamentary approval.

The document, shaped through public participation, will serve as the cornerstone of the national curriculum, encompassing all subject standards and textbooks. This interconnected approach aims to advance towards the overarching goal stated above. 

It's noteworthy that the document outlining national goals for general education was last updated in 2004 and has remained unchanged for 20 years. This document serves as a foundational framework akin to the constitution of general education.
