The aim of the sub-programme is to organize the subject Olympiads on the national level for public and private school students of Georgia. In 2010 subject Olympiads will be held in Mathematics, Physics, Georgian Language and Literature, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Informational Technologies and foreign languages (English, German, Russian and French) both for Georgian-language and non-Georgian language General Education Establishments.
National Examinations Centre ensures the arrangement of subject Olympiads. Those students winning First, Second, Third places will be awarded the monetary prizes.
Sub-programme for Awarding the Best students with Medals
Within the framework of the sub-programme the golden and silver medals will be prepared for 2009-2010 academic year excellent school-graduates. Each medal will have the name of the owner and the year of graduation scripted on it. The selection criteria of candidates are regulated by the National Curriculum asserted by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.
Sub-programme for Strengthening School Initiatives
The initiatives introduced within the framework of the sub-programme will be gathered at the General Education Development Division of the General and Professional Education Development Department that will arrange a permanent committee asserted by the individual legal act by the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia upon the discussion of the presented initiatives. The committee will work according to the below–given criteria:
The committee will present the conclusion upon the expediency of financing the discussed initiative to the Minister. On the basis of the conclusion the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia will make a final decision which will be later asserted with the individual legal act about financing the initiative.
The fund which aims at financing initiatives comprises 129 000 GEL. The transfer of the financial source to the winning establishment will be accomplished on the basis of the agreement. Any General Education Establishment or the interested organization is eligible to submit initiatives.
Sub-programme on Georgian Calligraphy Contest
The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia together with cooperation of the National Centre of Manuscripts and other interested organizations is arranging the “Georgian Manuscript Contest”. It aims developing a hand-writing culture among youth and revealing their creativity. The contest is conducted into two age groups (for 5th-8th and 9th-12th grade students). Not only students of Georgia, but also Georgian immigrants can take part in the contest. It consists of 3 stages. The contestants will be given more complicated tasks on every stage. The comprehensive dialogues about Georgian Calligraphy will be arranged for participants at the National Centre of Manuscripts. The contestants will be awarded different kinds of prizes offered by the co-organizers.
Sub-programme for Strengthening Civic Education
The sub-programme aims at raising the development of civil awareness and civic responsibility among students.
Within the framework of the given sub-programme educational excursions will be arranged in 2010 in the following state governmental bodies:
The focus group of the sub-programme consists of the students from basic and secondary educational establisments. The school students from Tbilisi and regions will be involved into the activities. Within the framework of the sub-programme those regions will be involved that have not participated in the excursions planned previous year.
Sub-programme for Week of Russian Occupation
The aim of the sub-programme is to raise the awareness of the patriotic and civil self-consciousness.

Sub-programme for International Olympiads
The aim of the sub-programme is:
to deepen the knowledge of students in Natural Sciences;
to present Georgian students on the international level which will help them to establish contacts with youth and teachers from different countries for advancing sharing scientific and cultural experience.
Within the framework of the sub-programme the national teams of Georgia consisting of successful students from National Olympiads of 2010 will be participating in the worldwide Olympiads:
In 2010 the winners of the international Olympiads will be appointed a scholarship (the monetary award) in the amount of: 5000 GEL –for Golden medal winner, 3000 GEL – for Silver medal winner, 2000 GEL – for Bronze medal winner.
