
Mikheil Chkhenkeli – the Minister of Education and
Science of Georgia met with the students and teachers participating in the
International Educational Olympiads 2018. The Minister gave the students some
necessary tips before the important competition and wished them success:
"Your learning and your commitment is not only important for your personal
advancement but also of great public value. Without the thorough study of
science in a rapidly changing and developing world, it will be impossible to
facilitate the challenges of modernity, and to ensure the development of our
country. Your achievements will serve the international integration of our
educational system, and at the same time you will become a model for many of
your peers or junior friends. I want you to know that all my attention will be
directed to you. We wish you success and success to your homeland. "
The Georgian National Team teams have started the
training for the International Olympiads. Georgia presents the respective teams
in five Olympiad disciplines: Mathematics IMO, Physics IPHO, Information
Technology IOI, Biology IBO and Chemistry ICHO.
The seven-member team of mathematics will travel to the
city of Cluj on July 7-14, at the 59th International Mathematics Olympiad in
Romania. The biology team is composed of 4 students and will travel to Tehran,
Iran on July 15-22 for the 29th Biology (IBO) International Olympiad; Four members of
the Chemistry team will leave for Chemistry 50th (ICHO) International Olympiad
on July 19-29, which will be held in Prague and Bratislava, Czech Republic and
Slovakia; A team of four-students in Information Technology will be competing in the 30th IOI
International Olympiad in Tsukuba Ibaraki, Japan on 1-8 September; and finally,
the team of physics will depart on July 21-29, at the 49th IPHO International
Olympiad in Lisbon, Portugal.
The national teams of Physics, Mathematics,
Biology and Chemistry have been selected due to the results of the third round
of the 2018 National Olympiad. However, the Information Technology national
team has been selected entirely by the Ministry of Education and Science of
Georgia.
