Collaboration
memorandum was signed between the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia,
the Ministry of Education and Research of Estonia and foundation “Inove”. The
Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Tamar Sanikidze, Deputy Secretary
General of the General and Vocational Education of Ministry of Education and
Research of Estonia Mart Laidmets and the head of council of foundation Inove
Birgit Lao Peretso signed the memorandum.

By the initiative of Independent
School Association, another workshop was held with the representatives of private schools.
Several important issues were discussed on the meeting, including new scheme
for vocational development of teachers and joint aims regarding improvement of
learning-teaching quality.

the 1st graders will start on May 15, 2015, and last to June 9.
Registration window will open at 09:00 on the website of information system (www.emis.ge) of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia (www.mes.gov.ge) .

School Resource Officers will enter
seven public schools in certain regions of Kvemo Kartli for the first time and
start doing their duty. These regions are: Marneuli, Bolnisi and Gardabani.
Today the Georgian Minister of Education and Science, together with
representatives of the Office of Resource Officers of
educational institutions, met school resource officers and wished them success.

The winners of Young Inventors’
Competition “Leonardo da Vinci”, comprising Georgian pupils, will participate
in the world’s biggest competition in science and engineering – the Intel
International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) held in Pittsburgh,
USA. The Georgian pupils travelled to the United States this morning. At the
fair their inventions will be introduced to representatives of different
countries.

Lia Gigauri, the Georgian Deputy
Minister of Education and Science met the International Expert Group for Civic
education. The International Expert Group is on
a working visit in Georgia. Within the framework of the visit, they are
assisting the Ministry of Education and Science in the process of revising the
Civic Education syllabus of the national curriculum, sharing their experience
with the Ministry and the representatives of public educational institutions,
as well as giving recommendations in order to devise approaches and policies
appropriate for teaching civic education effectively.

Worldskills,
the international competition of vocational skills in which the Georgian team
also participates (professions: cooking, hairdressing, restaurant service,
welding, web design and floristics), will be held in Sao Paulo, Brazil, from
11-16 August, 2015.

In March 2015 the first
multifunctional University Clinic, staffed by high-ranking professionals, began
functioning. Here, along with theoretical knowledge, students and residents
acquire practical skills, and as for the academic staff, they have a unique
opportunity to conduct research. Today the Georgian Minister of Education and
Science visited the clinic and familiarized herself with its operation,.
She met students and talked to patients and also witnessed the first
new-born of the clinic.

Nationwide online registration of first graders for the academic year 2015-2016 will start on May 15 – at 9 a.m. The registration process take place on the website of the Ministry of Education and Science as well as on the website of Education Management Information System, and it will finish on June 9 – at 8 p.m.

In order to develop the Ivane Beritashvili
Center of Experimental Biomedicine, the center together with the Ministry of
Education and Science of Georgia has devised a long-term program which aims to offer the
staff a pay rise, develop the infrastructure, equip the center with up-to-date
facilities and support important scientific works.

The second session of the
inter-agency commission responsible for determination of the propriety of
changes made in the law about “Recognition of education obtained on occupied
territories” was held at the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. The
session was chaired by Lia Gigauri, the Georgian Deputy Minister of Education
and Science.

at the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia, and in the framework of
European Week, an event dedicated to Europe Day took place. Among the invited
guests were representatives of the executive and legislative branches,
diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia, and also representatives of
international and local organizations.

providing them with equipment. Today,
Minister Tamar Sanikidze visited Tbilisi Public School #9 and familiarized
herself with the
operation of both the renovated nurse’s office and the school physician.

On May 4, International Anti-Bullying
Day is celebrated. Tbilisi Classical Gymnasium joined in the celebration and
unveiled its anti-bully campaign. Tamar Sanikidze, the Georgian Minister of
Education and Science, attended the event and joined in the protest.
