Results of the Unified National Exams and GRE exams have been already announced and posted on the web site of the National Examinations Center under Ministry. Exams appeal procedure will begin on August 10th and will be finished by August 15th.

In commemoration of the national heroes, Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia hosted Ana Lagurashvili - a daughter of Captain Leri Lagurashvili, who died during Russian-Georgian War in 2008. First Deputy Minister Koka Sepherteladze awarded Ana the computer and the books.

Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia joined the campaign organized by the newspaper “Prime Time” in commemoration of the soldiers who died in the War of 2008. First Deputy Minister Koka Sepherteladze and Resource Officers placed flowers at the Cemetery of Fallen Soldiers of the War 2008.

The project that gives the opportunity to the talented schoolchildren from vulnerable families to study at private schools continues. The project s initiated by the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia. Eter Gogia inhabitant of “Children Village” will continue her 12th year of school at private school-lyceum “Mtsignobartukhutsesi”.

Resource Officers and members of Parliament of Georgia visited “Tbilisi Children Village”. Up to 70 children between the ages of 5-14 live there. The guests presented the children with sweets, toys and other presents.

Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia completed selection of the candidates for the state program “Georgian Language for Future Success” on August 1st. Selected candidates will teach Georgian language to the students of non-Georgian schools in Kvemo Kartli, Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kakheti regions. Minister Dimitri Shashkini met future teachers.

By the Decree of Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini from 2011-2012 academic year, teaching of English language becomes mandatory at all accredited and authorized higher education institutions of Georgia.

Teacher Professional Development Center under Ministry organized two-week training for the teachers of various schools of Georgia in Nottingham, UK. From July 23 to August 7, teachers took an intensive training in English Language and Teaching Methodology at New College Nottingham.

In the frame of program “Unified Georgia without Poverty”, Georgian government will provide all schoolchildren from socially vulnerable families with school textbooks free of charge. This year, Georgian Post will also get involved in a process of distribution the textbooks among schoolchildren.

Native English Speaker Teachers continue to arrive within the frame of the educational program “Teach and Learn with Georgia”. Before the beginning of a new academic year, several groups of volunteer teachers are expected to come to Georgia, in total, up to 1500 teachers will begin their assignments.
