A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia and Julich Research Center (FZJ), envisaging the development of long-term cooperation between Georgia and Germany within the Georgian-German Scientific Bridge (GGSB). The memorandum was signed by Minister Mikheil Chkhenkeli, the Center’s Chairman of Board of Directors - Wolfgang Marquardt and the Director - Hans Ströer.
Based on the memorandum, Kutaisi International University (KIU), after collaborating with the Julich Research Center for several years, has joined the consortium of Georgian universities - “Georgian-German Scientific Bridge” (GGSB),
Additionally, within the scope of the above-mentioned memorandum, it is foreseen to establish educational-scientific ties between the institutions of Kutaisi International University (KIU) and Julich Research Center. Cooperation is planned in the areas of supercomputing, data analysis and machine learning. Moreover, KIU Hadron Therapy Center will be involved in biomedical, applied and medical-technical research.
Furthermore, the cooperation with two laboratories: SMART | AtmoSim_lab and SMART | EDM_lab of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University will continue. The pipeline also extends to establishing a new laboratory: SMART | BioMedImage_lab, which will be used in the field of medical technologies.
The renewed Memorandum of Understanding with Julich Research Center, in addition to deepening cooperation between German and Georgian educational institutions, entails the implementation of educational exchange programs for students of all levels, in conjunction with organizing seminars, summer schools, educational weeks, as well as workshops for students and various cognitive events.
