Named after the fmous Georgian Olympic champion, Nugzar Asatiani, the newly renovated fencing hall was opened, equipped with modern dressing rooms and shower cabins. Safety standards are in full compliance with the modern requirements.
Shalva Gogoladze, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, together with Merab Bazadze, President of the Fencing Federation, Mamuka Khabareli, Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee, representatives of the Tbilisi City Assembly took part in the opening ceremony.
The presentation of the "Olympic Musketeers" memorial dedicated to Georgian fencers was held today. The exterior of the hall was decorated with the symbolism of the Olympic Games. The names and surnames of the Georgian fencers who competed in the Olympic Games are written at the entrance of the hall. Among them are Olympic champions - Nugzar Asatiani and Vladimir Aptsiauri and 2-time bronze medalist - Guram Kostava.
Nugzar Asatiani Fencing Hall was built in 2013 by veteran fencers and handed over to the Fencing Federation. Since then, members of both national, age teams and beginner fencers have been training on the premises.
