The French-Georgian University Council has been established within the framework of the joint "French-Georgian University" project of the Governments of Georgia and the French Republic. The Council Order was officially signed by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli and the Ambassador of France to Georgia, Diego Colas.
The project "French-Georgian University" is an institutional cooperation between the parties in the field of higher education and scientific research. It envisages the development of joint curricula between French and Georgian universities and the issuance of French diplomas in Georgian higher education institutions. The languages of instruction for such programs will be conducted in French, English and Georgian.
Leading universities of France and Georgia will be involved in the bachelor's and master's programs developed within the project. At this stage, the project envisages cooperation in the field of tourism, agriculture, and computer science.
From the 2020-2021 academic year, French-Georgian University project will launch two different programs at various universities: Master's program in Tourism - Tbilisi State University, and undergraduate program "Production management in Milk industry" - Georgian Technical University. The Georgian Technical University, in partnership with the Universities of Montpellier Supagro, also plans to launch a master's program in winemaking and oenology.
The agreement between the governments of Georgia and the French Republic on the implementation of the "French-Georgian University Project" was signed on May 26, 2018.
