The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli held an online meeting with the representatives of the German Credit Bank for Reconstruction and Development (KfW), where the parties discussed current and planned joint projects.

Mikheil Chkhenkeli thanked the representatives of KfW for the significant support of the Georgian education system, especially vocational education. The Minister stressed the importance of the International Wine School Development Project for the country on the premises of Telavi State University. According to him, connecting the professional and higher education levels closely is one of the strategic tasks of the Ministry.

Mikheil Chkhenkeli also spoke in detail about the skills agency "The Skills Agency of Georgia", which was established by the Ministry in cooperation with the private sector. The agency will facilitate the introduction of new programs in line with the demand of the labour market, support for innovative training, improve competition, better employment opportunities and, ultimately, the development of human capital.

The parties also discussed the projects of the Construction College (Excellence Center) and the Dusheti School of Tourism planned for the future, discussed their development stages and agreed on further steps.

The meeting was attended by Olaf Tsimelka, Head of the KfW Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia Department, Birgit Holderid-Kress, new Director of the Tbilisi Office, and representatives of the German Embassy and Tamar Kitiashvili, Deputy Minister of Education and Science.
