With the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, the Communications Commission and the Media Academy announced a competition for undergraduate students - "Real or imaginary?!". The project aims to develop the skills necessary for logical and critical thinking, analysis and fact-checking, and media literacy among young people.
Students will have the opportunity to participate in the competition from September 29 to October 31.
According to the rules of the competition, students must find fake news that has not yet been verified in the media, including the Internet, television, and print media. At the same time, contestants must present the way to find the story, verify its source and at the same time establish the real facts.
The winners, who will be selected by a competent jury, will receive prizes - the first-place winner will receive an iPhone 14 Pro, the second place winner will receive an HP laptop, and the third place winner will receive an iPad 10.2.
It is important that the Communications Commission, apart from giving prizes, will also help the winners and other successful students in their career development. They will retrain students with certified trainings and after passing the course will give them the status of trainer. In addition, the winners will have the opportunity to actively participate in various media literacy projects of the Commission and share their knowledge and experience with students in schools and universities.
It should be noted that in parallel with the competition, the Communications Commission will conduct trainings using BBC Academy resources at higher educational institutions. Within the scope of the sessions, students will acquire knowledge about ways to analyse false information dissemination in the media and verify facts.
The competition rules and detailed information can be found on the Media Literacy Facebook page of the Communications Commission and the Commission and Media Literacy website.
