The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli, paid a working visit to the Swiss Confederation. Within the scope of the visit, a ministerial meeting was held with the Federal Councillor - Guy Parmelin, where the sides discussed the issues of education and science and the prospects of cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, Mikheil Chkhenkeli emphasized the partnership between the countries in terms of vocational development in Georgia and expressed his gratitude towards his colleague for promoting the development of the education system and human capital in Georgia. Minister Chkhenkeli also highlighted the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency, that has been supporting the Georgian education system for years.
As Mikheil Chkhenkeli mentioned, with the support of Prime Minister – Irakli Gharibashvili, there is an active support from the Georgian government to the rapid development and internalization of vocational education in Georgia. Moreover, Minister Chkhenkeli stressed, that the active involvement of the Swiss side in this process is vitally important. This in turn, means that Swiss specialists be actively involved in sharing their valuable information and experience to their Georgian counterparts.
On his part, Guy Parmelin, Minister of Economic Relations, Education, and a Councillor of the Swiss Federation, expressed his willingness to cooperate closely with Georgia in the development of vocational education and said that the strengthening of this private-private cooperation is crucially significant. According to him, the Swiss side will be happy if it could contribute to the development of vocational education in Georgia.
The meeting was attended by Revaz Lominadze, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Georgia to the Swiss Confederation, Department of Economic Relations, Education and Technical Advisors (EAER) of the Swiss Confederation.
