With the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, on May 1-8, Tbilisi will host the 84th meeting of the European Student Union Council.
The opening ceremony of the event was held at the Tbilisi City Council. The minister addressed the audience and in his welcoming speech, he focused on the importance of supporting students and increasing their access to quality European education.
Giorgi Amilakhvari: "Today, Tbilisi, Georgia hosts the regular 84th meeting of the European Student Union Council, organized by the Georgian College Students' Association. The entire education system of Georgia and within it, the students are part of a big European family - the young generation that makes an important contribution to the development of the European future of our country. Students are actively involved both in current processes and in the implementation of various educational projects together with the European youth, which strengthens their European values and promotes healthy cooperation. One of the main priorities of our team is to give Georgian students even more opportunities to receive the quality European education."
Tbilisi Mayor - Kakha Kaladze, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs - Irakli Giviashvili, Chairman of the Education and Science Committee of the Parliament of Georgia - Givi Mikanadze and President of the European Student Union - Mateo Vespa also addressed the participants of the 84th meeting of the European Student Union Council. During the event, the welcoming speech of the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Affairs - Maria Gabrieli was also read.
The organizer of the 84th meeting of the Council of the European Student Union is Georgian College Students' Association, which has been a full member of the European Student Union (ESU) since 2019.
ESU - was founded in 1982 and unites more than 20 million students from 41 states of the National Student Union. The European Student Union is the official youth organization of the European Union with a voting quota in the European Parliament and works closely with the European Commission, UNESCO, the Council of Europe, the Bologna Process Implementation Group and others.
