The Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, Giorgi Amilakhvari, held a meeting with representatives of the San Diego State University delegation, including San Diego State University Provost and First Vice President William Tong, San Diego State University Vice President for Research and Innovation Hala Madanat, and San Diego State University Dean of the School of Sciences Jeffrey Roberts.
During the working meeting, the parties reviewed the progress of the joint educational project valued at 5 million dollars, which was extended for an additional 4 years based on a memorandum signed in 2023 with the initiative and support of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth. As part of this initiative, San Diego State University enrolled approximately 90 students in three English-language undergraduate programs: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Civil Engineering.
Giorgi Amilakhvari expressed gratitude to the delegation members for their support of higher education in Georgia and highlighted significant achievements made within the extensive project, particularly in delivering quality education to students and securing international accreditation.
The meeting also explored opportunities for expanding the project and both parties expressed their readiness to deepen their collaboration in the future.
