The Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, Giorgi Amilakhvari, convened a meeting with Susan Acland-Hood, the Permanent Secretary of the Department of Education of Great Britain, at Lancaster Palace during the official gathering of the "World Education Forum" in London.
During the discussion, both parties reviewed the findings of an extensive study on transnational education conducted by the British organization - Times Higher Education (THE) in Georgia from January to March of the current year. This study was conducted under the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth and the British Council, aiming to explore the potential for British universities to operate in Georgia.
Furthermore, Minister Amilakhvari met with Sir Steve Smith, the British government advisor on higher education matters, to explore opportunities for further cooperation between Georgian and British universities.
Giorgi Amilakhvari suggested arranging a study visit to British universities in Georgia, aiming to enhance the understanding of Georgia's capabilities among British counterparts and promote genuine collaboration between higher education institutions of both countries. The British side expressed their readiness for a robust partnership with Georgia, which could involve visits and potential market entry initiatives.
Concluding the official reception, Giorgi Amilakhvari extended an invitation to the Permanent Secretary of the Department of Education of Great Britain and the government advisor on education matters to visit Georgia, aiming to strengthen the partnership between the two countries.
Notably, the research conducted by Times Higher Education (THE) aimed to identify opportunities and challenges for the development of British-Georgian transnational education. Its objective was to provide recommendations for fostering partnership relations between the two nations.
