On July 6, 2024, Giorgi Amilakhvari, the Minister of Education, Science, and Youth Affairs of Georgia, officially opened the Anaklia Youth Camp and held a meeting with the young participants.
In his address, the Minister thanked the attendees for their participation and wished them a pleasant vacation. The opening event was also attended by Giorgi Guguchia, the State Representative of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Zugdidi Mayor Mamuka Tsotseria, and David Gurgenidze, the Rector of Georgian Technical University.
This year, the Anaklia Camp will host 3,120 young people across 13 sessions, with 240 participants aged 18-25 selected in collaboration with higher education institutions and youth organizations. The first session includes students from Georgian Technical University.
The camp aims to provide access to active leisure for young people, promote their social integration, enhance their physical and intellectual potential, encourage healthy lifestyles, and instill both national and European values along with patriotic sentiments.
The program lasts for five days, allowing participants to engage in educational, sports, and cognitive activities designed to develop key competencies. Activities will follow non-formal education methodologies and principles of youth engagement.
Throughout the camp, young people will receive training on various topics, including the activities of the Georgian Armed Forces, defense forces, and the impact of globalization and the changing international landscape. Representatives from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, officers from the Ministry of Defense, and staff from the National Bank will conduct training sessions.
Additionally, the camp will feature guest speakers, including well-known figures such as politicians, athletes, and artists, who will hold discussions with the participants.
Preparations for the camp included renovations to the banquet facilities, updates to the material and technical resources, and equipping the camp with the necessary tools to implement the program effectively.
Before the start of the camp, leaders were trained at the Anaklia Summer Camp base, with 160 selected individuals participating in the training. The goal of the training was to help them develop leadership skills. Leadership candidates were introduced to the principles of camp operations and a variety of programs tailored to the interests of the attendees. The best leaders identified during the training will be employed at the summer camps in Shaori and Anaklia, which each host up to 250 leaders annually.
The Shaori Camp is set to begin on July 15.
