Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini and Minister of Environment Protection and Natural Resources, Goga Khachidze presented animation movie “Botso and Gvantsa” to the schoolchildren of the primary classes of Tbilisi Public School №123. Informational-cognitive film was shot with the support of GTZ and it is aimed to inform adults about the meaning of biodiversity.

One of the priorities of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Natural Resources is to advance awareness of adults and support activities concerning the environment protection. Public’s knowledge about the environment protection is essential in terms of ecologic safety and sustainable development.

New classes of Civil Defense and Safety will help the schoolchildren to acknowledge their responsibilities before family, society and state. Environment protection is envisaged among these responsibilities as well. Mentioned discipline was introduced in schools for the first time. MES was actively cooperating with the Ministry of Environment Protection and Natural Resources as well as the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia during the development of the teaching program.

In the scope of the event, representatives of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Natural Resources presented the schoolchildren of Tbilisi Public School №123 with the lesson timetable with the slogan Environment Protection on it that was specially published in the frame of the Biodiversity International Day.
