In the light of the ongoing reforms, development of inclusive education and increasing an access to education for the children with special needs, is one of the main priorities of Ministry of Education and Science

The Ministry implements the programs that on the one hand are aimed at promoting the inclusive education and on the other hand defining the role of special schools in a new educational environment.

The multidisciplinary teams consisting of physiologists, occupational therapists, and special teachers, are already operational throughout Georgia. The members of these teams will assess the needs of the registered children and based on their recommendations, special programs will be created taking into account the special needs of each child.

The absence of the database of the children with special needs prevented them to become an integral part of the learning process and society at large.
