Professor Niklaus Largier of University of California, Berkley is visiting Georgia with the invitation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. Professor Largier has conducted a three-day seminar on the topic of University arrangement in order to share international experience in this regard.  

Minister of Educaiton and Science of Georgia Tamar Sanikidze participated in the working process of the seminar. Rectors of State higher education institutions and heads of Administration, members of Higher Education System Management and Development Advisory Group, representatives from National Academy of Sciences, international foundations, Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation and Tempus Office attended the seminar.

The following topics were discussed during the seminar: 

• Major Action Plan of state California on Higher Education and challenges from State Higher Education Institutions
• Report 2013 of American Academy of Arts and Sciences on the condition of Humanitarian and Social Sciences
• Organizational and administrative arrangement of State Higher Education Institutions on the example of the University of Berkley.

Work meeting on the same topic was conducted by Professor Tassilo Schmitt from the University of Bremen in July, 2013. The following topics were discussed: autonomy of higher education institutions – historical and legal basics, management and advisory bodies of a higher education institution, etc.
