Tamar Sanikidze, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia responded to the upcoming presidential election and emphasized necessity of abiding to certain requirements set forth in the Election Code by the Ministry staff.

As Tamar Sanikidze stated, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia is ready to fully follow the requirements set forth in the Election Legislation and thus, encourage free and fair process of presidential campaign.

Minister addressed certain limitations set out for a civil servant during a pre-election period, namely:

• Civil servants working in the system of the Ministry of Education and Science do not have right to participate in pre-election campaign (agitation) during working hours or in the course of official duty. 
• Heads of the structural subunits of the Ministry are forbidden to  act as members of district election commission 
  • It is also prohibited to supply the citizens of Georgia with money or presents by candidates and their representatives, or to give a promise to supply with presents, fund and other valuables. 

• Civil servants of State Governmental Bodies are forbidden to become involved in agitation, a campaign in support of or against any political party or a candidate or use administrative resources in a campaign.
