The sub-programme aims at providing pupils and school staff with a healthy and safe environment as well as an on-time first aid medical service and urgent care.
The sub-programme was piloted in September 2014. One hundred participating schools with 300-1000 pupils were selected at random. Since 2015 Public School No. 187 with 130-1000 pupils has been added to the list of schools involved in the sub-programme.
The following numbers of schools were selected at random:
- two schools from each of Georgia’s regions (except for Tbilisi);
- one school from each of self-governing cities (except for Tbilisi);
Unlike physicians having been selected by the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia in 2014, they will in 2015 be selected by school committees through an open competition and in accordance with predetermined criteria.
A school physician is a freelancer at school whose salary amounts to 395 laris.
