In honor of 100th anniversary of death of Vaja-Pshavela, School Theatre Festival was conducted by the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. Under the festival, students of public and private schools of Georgia performed plays based on writings of Vaja-Pshavela. The commission revealed three winner plays, which were performed today at Marjanishvili theatre.

The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Tamar Sanikidze held a press conference regarding the school books and gave the detailed information to journalists about the process of “Program of the Provision for Pupils with Textbooks” for 2015-2016 academic year.

Tbilisi has hosted a seminar on “Preventive and non-formal education programs in USA”.  The seminar was held with the support of program “Let’s play basketball- Georgia” which is implemented by the organization PH International, also with financial support of United International Sport Initiative Division of Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of America (ECA).

The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Tamar Sanikidze reviewed the infrastructural projects implemented at Shota Meskhia State Teaching University of Zugdidi. Among the other important projects, there is a project for student dormitories, rehabilitation of which has been finished and will host students from new academic year.

By the initiative of N54 public school of Tbilisi, Demonstration for Kindness was held and dedicated to the tragedy of June13. School students presented charity performance “Stumar-Maspindzeli” and expressed their support to 5 schoolmates who became homeless and family of sport’s teacher, Venera Meparidze who is a refugee from Abkhazia. Also on this day, the school held an exhibition of felt works by the students.

2015 is 175th anniversary from birth and 100th anniversary from death of a great Georgia poet and public figure Akaki Tsereteli. Almost all educational institutions celebrate this important event across Georgia. Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University is one of them. It holds a week dedicated to Akaki Tsereteli.

The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Tamar Sanikidze visited “School of Tomorrow” in the river Vere valley. She saw the damage caused by the disaster and heard the problems that have to be solved first. One of the problems is examination for school leaving certificate for students. By the decision of the Minister, the 11th grade students of “School of Tomorrow” will take a pretest and leaving certificate exams at Tbilisi N55 public school.
