Tamar Kitiashvili, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, together with representatives of Agro Duo and the private sector, discussed the challenges in the agricultural sector, the importance of vocational education and employment opportunities.
In her speech, Tamar Kitiashvili stressed that the involvement of the private sector in the vocational education reform process is crucial:
"Everyone has long agreed that fields play a major role in vocational education. Every field has its need and development perspective, and it is this perspective and vision in line with the state policy, that is a prerequisite for the success of vocational education. Without this cooperation, it is impossible to understand what the private sector needs. Agro Duo, is the first union of skills in the field, which focuses on vocational education. This is a very good example for the state to be able to delegate as many functions as possible to the private sector in the future, which, in turn, is well aware that business and economic development is inconceivable without a rejuvenation of competencies.
I am sure that very soon the result of a cooperation will yield the increased employment of young people, increased productivity of adults, the development of small to medium-sized business and so forth.” said the Deputy Minister.
During the panel discussion, the conversation also focused on vocational education policy, how to regulate the alignment between the education system and the labor market, who should provide quality education and strengthen human resources in agriculture.
The correspondence between vocational education and the labor market in the agricultural sector has been implemented by the Sector Skills Organization Agro Duo since 2019. The goal of the organization is to strengthen human resources in agriculture by promoting quality vocational education.
