Owing to the decision of the Coordinating Council, and taking into account the current epidemiological situation, from February 1, the teaching process will continue in classrooms at schools throughout the country, except Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Rustavi.

As for the schools located in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, and Rustavi, at this stage the educational process is planned to resume on March 1. The epidemiological situation will be assessed again on February 15 and if the 7-day index rate drops to 4%, further alleviations will be considered by the government.

It should be noted, that the medical protocol will be strictly adhered and teachers will be systematically tested once every two weeks at schools who plan to resume teaching in-person.

As for kindergartens, vocational schools and higher education institutions, the current regulations will be maintained until March 1.

I would like to point out that, of course, we all wish the learning process to be resumed in a natural environment – i.e., in classrooms. But we do have to be cautious, that this is the health of our children, of our teachers at stake.
