Since the resumption of the learning process in classrooms, the infection rate of students, teachers and school administrators in all schools of Georgia has decreased even more.
This week, as a result of intensive monitoring and mandatory testing, 0.1% of Covid-19 teachers and school administrative staff and 0.01% of the total number of students were confirmed nationwide.
At the request of the parents, also due to Covid confirmation, there are 17 schools and 145 separate classes across the country for full distance learning. 69 teachers in the risk group across Georgia applied to the school administration and remained in the distance learning format.
Maintaining sanitary-hygienic conditions at schools is one of the main priorities for the Ministry. It is especially important that the education process continues uninterrupted.
For this precise purpose, the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli, as well as the First Deputy Minister, Ekaterine Dgebuadze, General Education and Coordination Divisions, Resource Officer Service and Resource Centres are all involved in monitoring the observance of the norms provided by the protocol.
Since the return of students to classrooms, the First Deputy Minister has visited several dozen schools randomly. More than 120 schools in Tbilisi and the regions have been inspected by the General Education and Coordination Divisions, while the resource centres are monitoring them on a daily basis.
As a result of the monitoring, it is established that the sanitary-hygienic norms in schools are observed at a high level in accordance with the regulations, and toilets and corridors are systematically treated with specific solutions. Visitors to the school building are restricted. The strict rule to wear face masks is in place. In some cases, the inspection revealed deficiencies, which is why schools received additional recommendations.
In case of detection of the virus, point restrictions will still apply to schools and, as a rule, they will act in accordance with the protocol of the Ministry of Health.
