The process of introducing a new standard for the authorization of vocational education institutions is underway successfully. Organized by the National Centre for Education Quality Development and with the participation of members of the National Authorization Council, a working meeting was held where the process of introducing the new standard of authorization, challenges and work done were evaluated. Tamar Kitiashvili, Deputy Minister of Education and Science and Tamar Samkharadze, Head of the Vocational Education Development Department participated in the meeting.

According to Tamar Kitiashvili, the new standard of authorization, which is based on European quality standards in vocational education, has been in active development since 2020, and in this process, evaluation by various stakeholders is of great importance. According to her, the assessments, remarks and recommendations expressed at the meeting will further accelerate the implementation of the system reform.

It should be noted that the current Board of Authorization of Vocational Education Institutions is composed of experts in the field and representatives of private sector. In a short period of time, the Council, through cooperation with stakeholders in vocational education and sharing opinions, has introduced many innovations and initiatives in terms of quality improvement.

Under the new authorization standard, the Vocational Education System will offer more than 120 new programs across the country to applicants for admission this year. 850 places were added to the programs in which the learning outcomes of the general secondary education are integrated. In addition, vocational education has become available in four new locations. Among them, new colleges were granted authorization in Kaspi and Dmanisi. Rustavi College "Modus" was given the right to implement programs in Marneuli, while Ozurgeti College "Horizon" will provide additional programs at the training base in the village of Goraberezhouli.
